[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) is operating temporary screening clinics where anyone who wants can receive free COVID-19 testing.
Temporary screening clinics have been set up at Exit 6 of Samsung Station and Exit 8 of Gaepo-dong Station (Gaepo Digital Innovation Park), subway stations frequently visited by citizens.
Amid the explosive increase in the metropolitan area, Gangnam-gu has actively joined the government’s policy to greatly expand diagnostic testing to identify asymptomatic infections.
By simply filling out a brief questionnaire including a mobile phone number and symptom check, individuals can receive testing anonymously. Participants can freely choose their testing method among nasopharyngeal swab PCR (gene amplification), saliva PCR, and rapid antigen tests, considering convenience, speed, and accuracy.
Also, unlike general screening clinics, individuals do not need to self-isolate after testing and can return to their daily routines.
The district plans to operate the temporary screening clinics until the 3rd of next month, making every effort to block infectious diseases.
Meanwhile, since the early stages of the COVID-19 crisis, Gangnam-gu has proactively conducted random specimen testing based on the infectious disease response principle of “early detection, early containment.”
On the 11th, the number of tests surpassed 100,000, ranking first overwhelmingly among 615 screening clinics nationwide.
