원본보기 아이콘[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 12th that Yoo Myung-hee, the Chief Trade Negotiator, visited the United States from the 8th to the 11th (local time) and discussed overall Korea-US trade issues with Robert Lighthizer, the United States Trade Representative (USTR).
Following this, Chief Yoo met with Katherine Tai, Senior Advisor to the Democratic Party on the House Ways and Means Committee, Stephanie Murphy, Democratic Congresswoman (Chief Deputy Whip, member of the Ways and Means Trade Subcommittee), and John Hamre, President of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), among other Democratic Party and think tank officials in the U.S.
Chief Yoo held meetings with various stakeholders to discuss the direction of the Biden administration's trade policy and ways for Korea and the U.S. to jointly respond to the changing trade environment. The environmental sector is expected to be strengthened.
