원본보기 아이콘[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] Professor Woo Jonghak of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Seoul National University criticized the results of the "2020 Second Half Proud Alumni Vote" held on Seoul National University's online community 'SnuLife' as a "joke." The vote, which included Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, People Power Party lawmaker Yoon Hee-sook, and former Democratic Party lawmaker Geum Tae-seop, reportedly showed Prosecutor General Yoon currently ranking first.
On the 6th, Professor Woo shared an article about Yoon ranking first in the SnuLife alumni vote on his Facebook, sarcastically criticizing it by saying, "If you go to a Chinese restaurant, there is only Chinese food."
He continued, "SnuLife is just a dot-com unrelated directly to Seoul National University," and pointed out, "Although it is said to be a community of Seoul National University students, faculty, and alumni, it is unknown who created it or who joins it."
He added, "As of 2019, there are about 28,000 enrolled students at Seoul National University. Undergraduates number 17,000, and there are over 10,000 master's and doctoral students," and questioned, "Even counting language training students, there are over 3,000. How many of them use SnuLife? Moreover, how many participated in this vote?"
Professor Woo said, "If it were a community truly representing Seoul National University, including enrolled students, faculty, retirees, and alumni, how many votes would be needed to have representativeness?" He continued, "There is a separate site that Seoul National University students mainly use. But only SnuLife appears in the newspapers. That's because they want to eat Jajangmyeon, but that place is a Chinese restaurant," implying that the vote results are biased.
