[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency announced on the 22nd that it will promote strengthened safety management measures for personal mobility devices (PM) in collaboration with related organizations ahead of the enforcement of the revised Road Traffic Act on the 10th of next month.

First, to create a safe PM usage culture, banners will be installed around university areas and parks where many users gather to encourage safe driving. Easy-to-understand content such as card news and webtoons will be produced and posted on police station SNS channels to promote both online and on-site awareness.

In cooperation with the Jeonnam Office of Education, education on safety rules and accident risks will be provided to middle and high school students as the revised Road Traffic Act allows PM use without a license. Additionally, elementary school students will be educated that children are prohibited from using PMs.

Acts that cause fatal accidents such as drunk driving and signal violations will be immediately cracked down on-site, and warnings and guidance will be given for risky behaviors such as not wearing helmets and two-person riding to encourage safe use.

A representative of the Jeonnam Police Agency said, “As the number of PM users continues to increase, we ask for active participation from users along with efforts from related ministries to actively spread a safe PM usage culture.”
