[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dobong-gu (Mayor Dongjin Lee) has opened the Snow Removal Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters and has begun full-scale snow removal operations.
The district has designated a four-month snow removal period until March 15 of next year and is operating the Snow Removal Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, composed of 13 task forces including the Situation Control Team, Traffic Countermeasures Team, Disaster Site Environmental Maintenance Team, Facility Restoration Team, and Disaster Public Relations Team.
First, the district completed the installation of 27 smartphone remote spreaders at six steep slope locations within the area.
Additionally, during snowfall, autonomous snow removal volunteer groups, volunteers, and private manpower snow removal task forces will be operated to promptly carry out residual snow and ice removal work on side roads and sidewalks.
In particular, this year, for the first time nationwide, a small-capacity product with a lid that anyone, regardless of age or gender, can easily use when it snows was jointly developed with a specialized snow removal company and placed in 204 snow removal boxes at vulnerable points such as mountain passes and high-altitude areas.
Furthermore, to expedite snow removal on steep slopes, in continuation from the previous year, heating cables were additionally installed along a 293m section at six locations including Haedeung-ro 3-gil in front of the public parking lot at Choansan Neighborhood Park, and next year, heating cables will be further installed along a 215m section in four districts selected through the resident participation budget.
Also, environmental officers have been designated as snow removal operators at vulnerable points such as underground sidewalks and roads, mountain passes, and subway entrances, and snow removal blowers will be introduced to maximize the efficiency of initial snow removal operations.
Mayor Dongjin Lee of Dobong-gu said, “We will do our best to ensure not only the safety of residents from heavy snowfall during winter but also to prevent inconveniences caused by road icing.”
