Jung Ji-won Appointed as Chairman of the General Insurance Association and Chairman of the Korea Exchange

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Jeong Ji-won, Chairman of the Korea Exchange, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Korea Non-Life Insurance Association.


The Korea Non-Life Insurance Association held an extraordinary general meeting on the 13th attended by CEOs of the non-life insurance industry, where the Chairman Candidate Recommendation Committee unanimously recommended Jeong Ji-won as the next chairman.


Chairman Jeong is expected to take office on the 21st of next month after undergoing a reemployment review by the Public Officials Ethics Committee. The term of office is three years from the date of inauguration.


Chairman Jeong previously served as CEO of Korea Securities Finance Corporation. He has led three financial public enterprises and related organizations.


Born in Busan, Chairman Jeong graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Economics. He passed the 27th Administrative Examination and began his public service career in 1986 at the then Ministry of Finance. He later served as Director of Bank Supervision at the Financial Supervisory Commission, Director of Financial Services at the Financial Services Commission, and Standing Commissioner of the Financial Services Commission.
