[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Gwangyang City announced that on the 5th, it operated the ‘Field Consulting for Practical Application of New Technologies for Regional Specialty Items’ for about 30 beekeeping farmers at the Agricultural Technology Center, and plans to conduct the second consulting session on the 18th.
Last year, consulting was conducted six times for 216 people from five research groups and crop groups, and this year, field consulting is planned for seven locations including tomatoes, beekeeping, green tea, and sancho (Szechuan pepper).
The ‘Field Consulting for Practical Application of New Technologies for Regional Specialty Items’ is a field consulting education program that targets farmers cultivating the same crops, aiming to solve crop-specific problems by inviting experts to identify and resolve difficulties in areas such as soil management, cultivation techniques, distribution, and marketing on site.
Although applications for education were received in March earlier this year, the training, which was postponed due to COVID-19, has resumed from this month.
On the 3rd, the first session of field consulting on tomato cultivation technology using ICT cultivation technology was conducted.
A master agricultural tomato expert was invited to provide on-site technical guidance while observing the crop status in the greenhouse, resulting in very high satisfaction among the trainees.
Consulting on disease management in beekeeping was conducted over two days on the 4th and 5th, and education on green tea cultivation requested by the Gwangyang City Tea Research Association is scheduled for the 20th, followed by education on sancho cultivation requested by the Sancho Research Association on the 30th.
Heo Nam-il, Director of Technology Extension Division, stated, “Through specialized consulting by item, we will solve the problems and difficulties faced by farmers in the field, systematically foster our region’s specialty crops, and take the lead in increasing agricultural income.”
