[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seongseong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Junsung) announced on the 13th that it will conduct a full COVID-19 screening test for 217 users at 9 high-risk facilities, including nursing hospitals and nursing homes, until the 17th to prevent cluster infections of COVID-19.

This test is being conducted for all users at high risk of infection, as the number of confirmed cases of sporadic cluster infections has been increasing recently, mainly in high-risk facilities such as nursing hospitals and nursing homes.

As cluster infections of COVID-19 with unknown transmission routes continue, the tests conducted earlier on workers at 14 facilities involving 421 people all returned negative results.

Specimens will be sent to the Jeonnam Provincial Institute of Health and Environment for testing, and upon confirmation of positive cases, patient reporting, epidemiological investigations, and exposure assessments of the relevant facilities will be conducted immediately for prompt response.

Yoon Jeonghee, Director of the Public Health Center, said, “Nursing hospitals and nursing facilities are densely populated with elderly people who are relatively vulnerable to infection, so thorough quarantine and proactive testing are the best ways to block infections,” and added, “We ask residents to strictly follow quarantine rules such as wearing masks and maintaining social distancing when using multi-use and high-risk facilities.”
