[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) announced on the 13th that it held a demonstration of the smart drone operation system at the Wando Coast Guard exclusive pier on the 11th.

The smart drone demonstration was conducted jointly by related organizations such as the police, coast guard, and military units, and proceeded by monitoring illegal immigrants fleeing by sea in real time with drones and apprehending them on land.

By establishing the smart drone system, Wando-gun will be able to immediately transmit on-site situations to the 112, 119, coast guard, and military unit control rooms in the event of disasters, accidents, or crimes.

On that day, a process of collecting 1 liter of seawater using a sampling drone to test water quality and a process of loading and urgently delivering medicines using a delivery drone were also demonstrated.

The smart drone operation system is expected to be highly utilized in the future for activities such as monitoring temperature changes and preventing red tide damage in aquaculture farms that are difficult to access by sea or in shallow and polluted areas, as well as delivering medicines to remote island areas with poor medical facilities.

Shin Woo-cheol, Governor of Wando-gun, said, “Wando-gun has become the first in the country to fully operate a disaster management smart drone operation system,” and added, “We will increase the utilization of drones by establishing a drone delivery system in island areas in the future.”
