[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Sejong University announced on the 13th that it will hold the finals of the '2020 Tourism DX Idea Contest' on the 27th in collaboration with the Korea Tourism Organization.
This contest aims to support the tourism industry, which has been struggling since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Among the participants who submitted ideas addressing various current issues and problems faced by tourism companies in four contest categories (accommodation, dining, platform, content), the top 16 will receive a total prize of 20 million KRW along with the special opportunity to gain work experience at promising tourism companies such as tourism startups.
The contest is conducted for Sejong University students and is linked from the contest theme to the internship program for the selected outstanding winners.
Participating companies first select their desired category among the four contest fields and present specific tourism problems reflecting their corporate situations. They then directly participate in on-site evaluations of university students' idea proposals addressing those problems. The costs for tourism company internships will be co-supported by the Korea Tourism Organization and Sejong University.
