[Asia Economy Reporter Ji-hwan Park] Lotte Global Logistics' courier service, Lotte Courier, has decided to suspend nighttime deliveries to prevent overwork among delivery workers. Among domestic courier companies, Lotte Courier is the second to halt nighttime deliveries after Hanjin.
Lotte Courier announced on the 10th that starting from the 1st of next month, delivery operations will cease after 11 PM. Undelivered packages will be delivered the following day.
On the 26th of last month, Lotte Courier announced measures to prevent overwork deaths, including deploying 1,000 sorting personnel, introducing additional courier automation equipment, and enrolling all delivery workers in industrial accident insurance.
Earlier, Hanjin announced on the 26th of last month measures to prevent overwork deaths among courier workers and declared it would be the first in the courier industry to suspend nighttime deliveries. Accordingly, Hanjin has stopped nighttime deliveries after 10 PM since the 1st of this month.
