[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters (Jeju) Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] The Jeju Regional Coast Guard announced on the 10th that it won an award (3rd place, Encouragement Prize) at the Evidence Collection Capability Enhancement Contest hosted by the Korea Coast Guard on the 4th.
This event was a presentation using evidence materials such as photos and videos taken at various maritime crime crackdown sites from August last year to September this year, with participation from 25 Coast Guard stations (regional headquarters and affiliated stations).
Three materials from the Jeju Coast Guard were selected for the final round, and two of them won awards.
Regarding the awards, ▲ a group distributing nationwide counterfeit ship engine parts made in China imitating domestic major companies and foreign famous brand trademarks was apprehended ▲ the Metropolitan Investigation Unit and the Foreign Affairs Division each received 3rd place and an Encouragement Prize for cases including the arrest of visa-free illegal immigrants.
A Jeju Coast Guard official said, “Evidence collection is very important to ascertain the substantive truth of maritime crimes, and a thorough understanding and experience of fieldwork are necessary to secure valuable evidence,” adding, “We plan to share the awarded materials with field departments and use them as educational resources.”
Meanwhile, the entire prize money (800,000 won) received at this event will be donated to families in need through the Community Chest of Korea.
