원본보기 아이콘[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Baedal Minjok (Baemin) is joining hands with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, and Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education to launch a campaign for pedestrian safety. Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baemin (CEO Kim Beom-jun), announced on the 10th that they held a joint cooperation agreement ceremony for prioritizing pedestrian safety at Seoul City Hall, attended by officials from the city, police agency, and education office.
Through this agreement, the Seoul Metropolitan Government will establish and promote a comprehensive plan to improve pedestrian safety and carry out various activities such as system improvements and campaigns. The Metropolitan Police Agency and the Office of Education plan to strengthen safety education for each mode of transportation, ranging from personal mobility devices like electric kickboards and electric skateboards to bicycles and motorcycles.
Woowa Brothers will participate in this agreement alongside partner organizations such as Beam and Kickgoing, electric kickboard companies, the National Green Mothers' Association, and the Korea Bicycle Organizations Council to conduct pedestrian safety education and campaigns targeting delivery workers. To this end, during the month of November, they plan to run pedestrian safety campaigns at least once a week through card news, notices, and banner advertisements on the Riders app and KakaoTalk channels used by about 50,000 delivery workers.
They will also produce and distribute educational videos for safe delivery. The videos will include safe delivery methods tailored to different transportation modes and situations, such as "accident prevention tips at crosswalks." Woowa Brothers plan to continuously release content through the Baemin Riders app and KakaoTalk channels so that delivery workers can conveniently watch the videos.
Kim Beom-jun, CEO of Woowa Brothers, said, "We hope this campaign will serve as an opportunity to establish a delivery culture that prioritizes pedestrian safety above all." He added, "We will continue to make creating a safe delivery environment our most important value and carry out various activities."
Since 2015, Baemin has continuously conducted safety driving education and campaigns through the "Mint Rider Campaign," which involved more than 45,000 participants. In November 2018, they signed a business agreement with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency for safe driving of delivery motorcycles and have been providing monthly safe driving education for delivery workers. They also mandated insurance enrollment for delivery workers. Both full-time delivery riders and part-time delivery connectors are 100% enrolled in industrial accident insurance. All motorcycles used by riders are covered by commercial transport insurance, and connectors are provided with dedicated time-based insurance for motorcycles, bicycles, and electric kickboards.
