EMK, Paid Online Screening of Original Musical 'Excalibur'

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] Performance planning company EMK Musical Company (EMK) will stream the musical 'Excalibur' online on December 7th via Naver TV Sponsorship Live.

'Excalibur' is EMK's third original musical, which premiered worldwide last June at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts. It is a reinterpretation of the legend of King Arthur and attracted about 120,000 viewers with a 92% seat occupancy rate during its premiere.

The music by world-renowned musical composer Frank Wildhorn, the largest domestic cast of 72 members filling the Sejong Center Grand Theater, and the massive rock mountain set towering 2.5 meters left a deep impression on the audience.

In July last year, as part of the Seoul Arts Center's video production project, 'Excalibur' was broadcast live in five theaters located in culturally underserved regions. Additionally, in June, it was offered for two weeks on the American performance streaming platform 'Broadway On Demand (BOD)' for English-speaking audiences, and in July, a screening was held at the National Taichung Theater (NTT) in Taiwan.

This is the first time it will be made available online to domestic audiences.

Following 'Excalibur,' EMK plans to hold an encore screening of 'Mozart!' in December. 'Mozart!' was streamed online via Naver V Live during the recent Chuseok holiday, attracting 15,000 online viewers.

Starting at 2 PM on the 10th, tickets for live streaming viewing of 'Excalibur' and 'Mozart!' performance videos will be sold on Naver TV Sponsorship Live. On the 11th at 2 PM, combined products including various MD goods will be sequentially sold on Interpark Ticket.

The musical 'Excalibur,' starring Kai, will be streamed online on December 7th at 7:30 PM. 'Mozart!' starring Park Kang-hyun will be streamed online on December 13th at 7:30 PM, and the version starring Kim Junsu will be streamed on December 14th at 7:30 PM.

Recently, EMK has ventured beyond simply filming actual performances and is developing a new genre called 'web musicals,' which are short-form contents around 15 minutes long tailored for the online environment. This 'web musical' project, a collaboration between EMK's subsidiary EMK Entertainment and Sandbox Network, will officially launch on the 20th.
