[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Daeseok) announced on the 10th that it will promote an environmental maintenance project for back roads and walking trails through elderly job participants in anticipation of the full-fledged fallen leaves season.
This environmental maintenance involves about 700 elderly participants from the ‘Silver Village’ Neighborhood Keeper Volunteer Group, one of the elderly job project executing organizations in Seo-gu.
The participating elderly are assigned to 18 neighborhood community centers in Seo-gu and are actively engaged in maintaining vulnerable areas such as back roads.
Seo-gu selects elderly participants through individual interviews to assess their work motivation and activity capability, placing them in suitable workplaces.
Through this, they have actively carried out the project by actively collecting residents’ complaints and suggestions, thereby increasing participant satisfaction and project effectiveness.
As a result, this year, Seo-gu produced the best and excellent institutions in the elderly job project evaluation hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
A Seo-gu official said, “In preparation for the upcoming winter season, we plan to safely conclude this year’s elderly job project by providing participants with sufficient cold-weather gear,” adding, “Next year, we will do our best to discover and promote job projects suitable for the With-Corona era.”
