The ComeUp2020 conference, held over three days from the 19th to the 21st, will proceed under the slogan "Meet The Future ? Post Pandemic." The conference is structured into 12 specific fields across three major themes: social structure, work, and life.
The organizing committee emphasized that amid the cancellation (Spain MWC) or scale-down (Finland SLUSH, Germany IFA) of major overseas startup events due to the spread of COVID-19, the significance of ComeUp2020 is more important than ever.
ComeUp2020 confirmed the participation of 114 renowned domestic and international startup figures as speakers and panelists, signaling its leap as a global startup event. Compared to ComeUp2019, the event period has been extended from two to three days, and the number of invited speakers and panelists increased by 84%, from 62 to 114. The number of overseas speakers and panelists also surged from 9 to 36, establishing the event as a world-class academic conference, according to the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
On the first day of ComeUp, Kim Seul-ah, CEO of Kurly and Chairperson of the ComeUp2020 Private Organizing Committee, will deliver the opening keynote on "Fresh Ideas to Tackle COVID-19."
In the K-Quarantine segment that follows, Jin-yong Kim, Head of Incheon Medical Center who devised the drive-thru testing system, will participate as a speaker and panelist to share the background of the drive-thru planning and future directions for epidemic response.
The second day will focus on the drastically changing work environment due to COVID-19, discussing various fields such as remote work and manufacturing.
Jungsang Kim, co-founder and CTO of IonQ and professor at Duke University, will be the first speaker, presenting on "The Present and Future Changes of Quantum Computing."
Following this, Henry Chesbrough, the world’s leading authority on open innovation from the University of California, Berkeley, and Gary A. Bolles, a renowned international expert on remote work from Singularity University, will engage in an in-depth remote discussion on the evolving work environment.
On the final day, lectures and discussions will focus on the fundamental changes in our lives after COVID-19.
Lee Sung-soo, CEO of global cultural planning company SM Entertainment, will deliver the keynote titled "Culture Technology Shines in the Untact Era." Following this, Tae-hoon Park, CEO of Watcha; Betty Vandenbosch, CEO of Coursera; and Yeon-hee Kim, Head of Asia-Pacific Retail at Boston Consulting Group, will discuss the future of entertainment, retail, and commerce.
Additionally, special roundtable discussions and lectures by internationally renowned figures will be held according to the daily main themes of ComeUp 2020. On Day 1, Mika Huttunen, CEO of SLUSH, the leading Nordic startup festival, will participate; on Day 2, Fei-Fei Li, AI expert and professor of computer science at Stanford University; and on Day 3, Alberto Savoia, Google’s first engineering director and innovation expert, will conduct special discussions and lectures.
Moreover, over 120 prominent domestic and international investors will participate in the event, enabling real-time investment consultations. Startups that pre-register will also have opportunities for matching consultations with global investors.
