[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Kim Ki-hyun, a member of the People Power Party, raised his voice to call for an investigation not only into the Ministry of Justice and the Prosecutor's Office but also into the National Intelligence Service and the Blue House's special activity funds (teukhwalbi).
On the 10th, Kim said on Facebook, "Minister Choo Mi-ae has once again kicked a 'ddongball (a badly kicked ball)' hard."
He pointed out, "She used her authority over investigation command and inspection rights to pressure Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, and this time ordered an investigation into the Prosecutor General's special activity funds. However, upon inspection, there were no issues with the execution of Yoon's special activity funds," adding, "On the contrary, the Ministry of Justice's special activity funds have become problematic, and the controversy is now about whether Minister Choo used the funds and the legality of such use."
Kim proposed, "At this juncture, let's form a special parliamentary committee to investigate the illegal use of special activity funds across the Ministry of Justice, the Prosecutor's Office, the National Intelligence Service, and the Blue House, and to establish countermeasures," and criticized, "This special activity fund controversy stems largely from the ruling party's irresponsible allegations without evidence, such as embezzlement of political funds and discriminatory allocation of special activity funds, and Minister Choo's blind compliance."
He criticized further, "Minister Choo appears to have used political donation funds for family meals and refueling at a gas station on the day of her son's graduation ceremony at Nonsan Training Center, using a political fund card in her name, yet she has neither explained nor apologized," and added, "While she remains silent about the suspicion of private misuse of political donation funds, which are strictly limited in use, who is she to order inspections on others?"
