[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 10th that it will begin recruiting residents for Smart Village, the first residential complex in the Smart City National Pilot City, starting from the 11th.
Smart Village is a living lab-type demonstration complex where about 40 innovative technologies to be implemented in the Busan Smart City National Pilot City are applied first, allowing residents to experience future living and new technologies in advance. A living lab refers to a laboratory (lab) conducting research in spaces where citizens actually live (living).
Smart Village is being developed as the nation's first zero-energy grade 1 block-type detached housing complex. It consists of a total of 56 households, and residents will be recruited for 54 households excluding 2 experience households.
Currently, Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water), Samsung C&T, and Shindongah Construction are jointly developing the complex, which is scheduled to be completed in December next year, followed by move-in.
Smart home services for each household and innovative services within the complex are linked on a single platform to conveniently manage both internal and external home environments, and lifestyle diagnostics are conducted through various information analyses.
Using the health monitoring system installed in each household and personal smart bands, residents can check their health status, and based on the collected data, predict potential diseases and determine the necessity of hospital visits. At the AI Sports Center, an AI trainer analyzes individual health information and provides personalized exercise prescriptions.
During the living lab operation period (5 years), Smart Village residents are exempt from rental deposits and rent, and only monthly maintenance fees must be paid. Residents are required to participate in living lab operation training and fulfill certain obligations such as providing feedback on demonstration services and personal information.
Residents will be recruited in three categories: management households (6 households), special households (12 households), and general households (36 households). Management households lead the operation of demonstration services and mediate conflicts among stakeholders, reflecting the unique characteristics of the living lab.
Special households target vulnerable groups such as youth, newlyweds, the elderly, and persons with disabilities, while general households will be recruited diversely considering household type and age. Experience households will be operated separately for visitors from the general public during the operation period on an ongoing basis.
Households wishing to move in can apply through the Smart Village website from 10:00 AM on the 23rd until 5:00 PM on the 10th of next month.
