원본보기 아이콘[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Dongmyung University (President Jeong Hong-seop) held an opening ceremony for the Beacon Ground Makerspace jointly with Beetle Co., Ltd. (CEO Oh Jae-gwan) at 4:30 PM on November 9.
The Beacon Ground Makerspace (69㎡), jointly operated by Dongmyung University's LINC+ Project Group for Customized Industry-University Cooperation and Beetle Co., Ltd., is a community-based creative activity space where local youth and residents can freely implement and share ideas.
This makerspace is equipped with educational spaces including one 3D Printer & 3D Scan Room and one Laser Cutting Room, as well as equipment such as 15 3D printers, one 3D shape measuring scanner, and three 3D manipulators. Starting in December, it plans to offer programs on 3D printing, laser cutting, prototype production, and entrepreneurship education.
Director Shin Dong-seok said, “Through the additional opening of makerspaces, we will establish a successful business model for the maker movement in the local community and spread maker culture, which will also create jobs.”
On the day, CEO Oh Jae-gwan also donated 4 million KRW to Dongmyung University’s development fund.
CEO Oh said, “I hope that the Beacon Ground Makerspace, in collaboration with Dongmyung University, will be used as a creative space where various ideas from local residents can be realized.”
