[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] Sangju City in Gyeongbuk announced on the 10th that its Agricultural Technology Center was selected as an institution awarded the Rural Development Administration Commissioner Award at the '2020 Sectoral Technology Dissemination Innovation Case Competition' hosted by the Rural Development Administration (Administrator Heo Tae-woong). The award ceremony is scheduled to be held at the Rural Development Administration on December 11.
The Sangju Agricultural Technology Center won the Excellence Award in the new technology field dissemination presentation held at the Rural Development Administration on the 3rd, with the theme "Technology Dissemination for Responding to Abnormal Weather in Fruit Trees and Discovery and Cultivation of New Income Crops."
This competition was conducted targeting local rural development institutions nationwide (Provincial Agricultural Technology Institutes, City and County Centers) through a two-stage process: the first stage was document screening and the second stage was presentation screening, focusing on outstanding cases of agricultural technology innovation and field dissemination over the past two years (2019-2020).
The Sangju Agricultural Technology Center received high evaluation for enabling stable production by responding to abnormal weather through the dissemination of hot air frost protection fans that reduce cold damage by blowing hot air to fruit trees. It was also recognized for the introduction and expanded dissemination of promising new income varieties such as the new red grape variety 'Hongju Seedless' and the plum variety 'Prune,' as well as for its performance in operating demonstration test plots.
Choi Nak-du, Director of Technology Dissemination, stated, "In addition to disseminating new technologies for agricultural development and introducing new income crops, we will contribute to increasing farmers' income by focusing on field and cultivation technology guidance based on the high technical skills unique to the Technology Center."
