[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jung-min] The Blue House held a Foreign Affairs and Security Ministers' Meeting chaired by President Moon Jae-in regarding the U.S. presidential election and decided to proceed with the Korea-U.S. diplomatic schedule as planned.
Kang Min-seok, spokesperson for the Blue House, stated on the 5th, "The government discussed the situation of the U.S. presidential election at the NSC Standing Committee held this afternoon, and then held a Foreign Affairs and Security Ministers' Meeting chaired by the President to report the results of the Standing Committee's discussion and to consult on future response directions."
Spokesperson Kang said, "The government decided to maintain stable communication and consultation between the Korea-U.S. diplomatic authorities and to cooperate without any gaps in efforts to develop Korea-U.S. relations and advance the Korean Peninsula peace process based on the strong Korea-U.S. alliance. In this regard, the existing diplomatic schedule between Korea and the U.S. will be carried out as planned to maintain close coordination."
Spokesperson Kang explained, "The government will closely monitor changes in the Korean Peninsula and international situation and steadily promote the Korean Peninsula peace process, focusing its capabilities on institutionalizing peace along with progress in inter-Korean relations."
Spokesperson Kang added, "The government has thoroughly examined the impact of the U.S. presidential election results on our macroeconomy, trade, and industry to manage our economy stably."
