[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] On the 5th, Lee Yong-seop, Mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City, participated in the ‘Todak Todak’ campaign to overcome COVID-19 blues together with employees.

The ‘Todak Todak’ campaign, conducted nationwide by the Korean Red Cross, is a self-care campaign that encourages and supports oneself who is going through a difficult daily life due to COVID-19 and prolonged social distancing, soothing the mind.

The ‘Todak Todak’ campaign uses the ‘Butterfly Hug’ motion, one of the psychological stabilization techniques, which involves crossing both arms to hug and comfort oneself.

The campaign proceeds in a challenge format where participants take a photo while performing the Butterfly Hug, post it on social networking services (SNS), and recommend the next participant.

Mayor Lee Yong-seop said, “I participated in this campaign to send comfort and encouragement to the citizens of Gwangju who are exhausted and having a hard time due to COVID-19,” and added, “I hope that through the ‘Todak Todak’ campaign, which involves hugging and comforting oneself, the citizens of Gwangju will continue to live healthy and vibrant lives.”
