[Asia Economy Reporter Ji-hwan Park] The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants announced on the 5th the launch of the 'Public Interest Organization Transparency Support Center,' composed of 30 female certified public accountants.
Amid growing social concerns over the accounting transparency of public interest organizations, the center was established primarily by female CPAs with the aim of enhancing the accounting transparency of small-scale public interest organizations.
On the same day, the center also signed a business agreement for an accounting transparency support project with the Seoul Child Shared Living Home Support Center. As its first project, the center will provide support to ensure transparent and systematic accounting management for small-scale child welfare facilities in Seoul, specifically child shared living homes.
Kim Jae-shin, President of the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants for Women, emphasized, "Public interest organizations involve various stakeholders such as donors, members, volunteers, beneficiaries, and supervisory authorities," adding, "Securing accounting transparency is an essential means for smooth communication with these diverse stakeholders."
