Seoul Reports 50 New COVID-19 Cases Yesterday... Additional Spread at Yeongdeungpo Securities Firm and Gangnam Gym

[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] As additional confirmed cases have emerged from existing COVID-19 cluster infection cases at workplaces, gyms, and nursing hospitals, the number of new daily confirmed cases in Seoul has increased to 50.

Seoul City announced on the 5th at midnight that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Seoul area increased by 50 from the previous day, bringing the total cumulative confirmed cases to 6,195.

Among the new confirmed cases that day, 25 were classified as cluster infection cases, 14 were contacts of confirmed cases, 4 were imported cases, and 7 were under investigation for infection routes.

By cluster infection source, there were increases of 6 cases related to Buguk Securities in Yeongdeungpo-gu (total 10), 4 cases related to a gym in Gangnam-gu (total 38), 4 cases related to a hospital in Songpa-gu (total 21), and 3 cases related to a recording studio in Jongno-gu (total 4).

Additionally, 2 cases related to the Garak Market fruit and vegetable store in Songpa-gu (total 4), 2 cases related to Ace Hope Care Center in Dongdaemun-gu (total 21), 2 cases related to a birthday party gathering (total 8), 2 cases related to journalists (total 4), and 1 case related to Lucky Sauna in Gangnam-gu (total 39) were also confirmed as additional cases.

Among these, at a hospital located in Songpa-gu, after one staff member was first confirmed positive on October 28, 17 more cases were confirmed by November 3, and 4 more on the 4th, bringing the total related confirmed cases to 22. Of these, 21 confirmed cases reside in Seoul.

Regarding the gym in Gangnam-gu, the additional confirmed cases on the 4th include one person who used another health club frequented by an existing confirmed case, one acquaintance, and two employees of a restaurant visited by users.

For journalists, after one was first confirmed on the 2nd, two more were confirmed by the 3rd, and two additional cases on the 4th, totaling five related confirmed cases. Among them, one is a family member of a journalist.

So far, 5,605 people in Seoul have been treated and discharged, and 511 are currently in isolation treatment.
