[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Smac is set to actively strengthen its robot industry.
Smac announced on the 5th that it has held discussions with the Gyeongnam Provincial Council to revitalize the robot industry and is embarking on a full-scale business expansion.
This discussion was arranged to identify issues on-site regarding administrative policies being implemented in Gyeongnam Province and to find improvement measures for future industries. Smac and the Gyeongnam Provincial Council share the view that the robot business is a core part of the 4th Industrial Revolution and future industries, and plan to work hard to promote the industry going forward.
Smac proposed measures to the Gyeongnam Provincial Council to revitalize the robot industry. The main point is to establish a localization cluster for reducers, motors, and control systems to nurture specialized companies. The intention is to activate the robot industry through a program that supports the application of robots developed in the cluster to industrial sites.
They also emphasized the necessity of building a workforce infrastructure to foster talent in robot control software and other areas to revitalize the robot industry. If industrial and workforce infrastructure such as materials, parts, and equipment are developed, domestic robot finished product companies including Smac are expected to secure price competitiveness.
Recently, under the government's Digital New Deal policy, industries such as smart factory and robot equipment construction are gaining momentum. Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun has stated that regulations hindering robot utilization in various fields will be revised, and efforts to organize social systems for coexistence with robots will be accelerated.
A Smac official said, “Smac has been producing robot finished products for a long time and continuously conducting research and development, so if various supports are provided, the overall scale can be rapidly expanded.”
