LG Electronics Launches 40 New Kimchi Refrigerator Models... Up to 836ℓ Capacity

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] LG Electronics announced on the 23rd that it will sequentially launch 40 new models of the kimchi refrigerator 'LG Dios Kimchi Tok Tok,' which keeps large quantities of kimchi fresh for a long time, starting from the 24th.

The representative new model (model number K410MC19E) is a stand-type with a capacity of 402ℓ. This product features LG's unique enhanced freshness function called 'New Probiotic Kimchi+.' While this function was previously only applied to the middle compartment, the new model allows its use up to the upper compartment. New Probiotic Kimchi+ increases the probiotics that enhance kimchi flavor by up to 57 times compared to the normal storage mode.

LG Electronics collaborated with CJ CheilJedang to apply the 'AI Customized Storage' function for the first time. This function recognizes the packaged kimchi purchased by the user from CJ CheilJedang and finds the optimal storage method.

For example, if a user uses the LG ThinQ app on their smartphone to scan the barcode on 'Bibigo Pogibae Kimchi' and inputs the manufacturing date, the kimchi refrigerator recognizes the product and sets the most suitable temperature and time. LG Electronics plans to expand this function by collaborating with other companies that produce packaged kimchi.

The new model also features a changed display to control the kimchi refrigerator. The 'Magic Touch Display' on the outer door has a cleaner design without borders compared to previous models. Additionally, the display's color and material match the product's exterior for a natural look.

The new model inherits the differentiated advantages of previous products. Each compartment?upper, middle, and lower?can store not only kimchi but also various ingredients. In particular, LG Electronics separated the left and right spaces of the upper compartment, allowing temperature settings for each space, making it easier to separate and store different foods.

LG Electronics applied a three-stage cooling care system?cooling, circulation, and maintenance?to major stand-type models with capacities of 327ℓ, 402ℓ, and 505ℓ. This system enhances refrigeration performance by incorporating three-dimensional cooling that evenly distributes cold air, cooling care that periodically circulates cold air to reduce temperature differences, and a patented 'Cold Air Keeper Guard' in the upper compartment that reduces cold air leakage using a separate partition.

The differentiated freshness temperature control technology maintains the internal temperature difference of the kimchi refrigerator within ±0.3℃ in the 'Taste Keeper Kimchi' mode, keeping kimchi fresh. This is thanks to the core component, the inverter linear compressor. LG Electronics applied the inverter linear compressor to all stand-type models.

The linear compressor moves in a straight line instead of rotating like a motor, resulting in less energy loss during power transmission and about 18% higher efficiency than a general inverter compressor.

In addition to 28 stand-type models, LG Electronics will sequentially introduce a total of 40 new models, including 12 lid-type models, by the end of next month. Capacities range from 128ℓ to 836ℓ.

The new product prices are based on shipment prices: lid-type models range from 620,000 to 1,140,000 KRW, and stand-type models range from 1,500,000 to 3,900,000 KRW. There are nine colors, including Manhattan Midnight and Starry Shine.

Yoon Kyung-seok, Vice President of LG Electronics Kitchen Appliance Division, said, "We will lead the domestic kimchi refrigerator market with Dios Kimchi Tok Tok, equipped with LG's unique differentiated functions to keep not only kimchi eaten throughout the four seasons but also various ingredients fresh for a long time."
