Starting Tomorrow, Online Birth Registration Will Grant Resident Registration Number on the Same Day

[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Jo] Starting from the 5th, if a birth is reported online, the resident registration number will be issued immediately.

On the 4th, the Supreme Court announced that it has decided to introduce an online birth reporting system to improve the convenience of birth registration.

The Supreme Court explained that, in consultation with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, it revised the "Regulations on the Registration of Family Relations, etc." to improve the procedure so that a resident registration number can be assigned through online birth reporting.

Online birth reporting can be done by accessing the Supreme Court's electronic family relations registration system website.

Through this, it is expected that contracts such as insurance enrollment for the newborn as an insured person or opening a bank account can be made without inconvenience, the Supreme Court explained.

A Supreme Court official stated, "We will continue to do our best to promptly improve any matters deemed necessary to enhance the convenience of online birth reporting for the public."
