원본보기 아이콘[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Samsung Electronics will release the foldable smartphone 'Galaxy Z Flip 5G' on August 7. The price is $1449.99 (about 1.73 million KRW), slightly higher than the previous model (1.65 million KRW).
On the 22nd (local time), Samsung Electronics unveiled the 'Galaxy Z Flip 5G' at its US newsroom and announced that it will be sequentially released in the US and some other countries starting August 7. The domestic release is scheduled for September, with the price yet to be determined.
Initially, the Galaxy Z Flip 5G was expected to appear at the August 5 Unpacked event, but it was revealed first among the 'Galaxy 5 siblings.' The upcoming Unpacked event is expected to showcase the Galaxy Note20, Galaxy Fold2, Galaxy Buds Live, and Galaxy Watch3.
Samsung Electronics' Mobile Communications Business President (CEO) No Tae-moon said, "By providing 5G speed and connectivity on the Galaxy Z Flip, we are expanding our 5G device portfolio and helping consumers have meaningful experiences and accomplish more."
The Galaxy Z Flip 5G has the same design as its predecessor but features improved AP specifications. It is the first Galaxy product to be equipped with the Snapdragon 865+ chipset, enhancing graphics and processing speed compared to the previous model. The LTE model is equipped with the Snapdragon 855.
The 5G model will be available in two colors: Mystic Bronze and Gray. Compared to the previous model, which was released in Black and Purple, it gives a more subdued impression. A haze finish is applied to reduce fingerprint smudges.
Samsung Electronics stated, "While maintaining the Z Flip's form factor for portability, we added components necessary for 5G connectivity and are releasing it in two new premium colors."
The Galaxy Z Flip 5G supports 'Flex Mode,' which allows the device to be fixed at the desired angle. When watching YouTube, half of the screen plays the video while the lower half displays subtitles or comments. In Flex Mode, double-tapping switches the preview window position from top to bottom.
In Multi Window Mode, users can drag and drop desired apps to use two apps simultaneously. It is also possible to open the Messages app and Gallery app at the same time to quickly share photos.
