[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] Korea South-East Power Co. held a completion ceremony for the Sunny Plant (Haetbit Nanum) solar power facility on the 17th at Hanyang University in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province.
The ceremony was attended by Bae Young-jin, Head of New Business Division at Korea South-East Power, Yang Nae-won, Vice President of Hanyang University, and representatives from solar power equipment companies.
Sunny Plant is a project where solar power equipment companies such as Top Sun, Willings, and TM Solutions donate materials free of charge, and Korea South-East Power supports the installation costs.
The 100 kWp solar power facility completed on the rooftop of the Media and Information Building at Hanyang University ERICA Campus is expected to contribute to the creation of a green campus and the use of profits as scholarship funds.
Korea South-East Power expects that by securing solar power RECs (Renewable Energy Certificates) for the next 10 years through this project, it will also help achieve the renewable energy supply obligation targets.
A Korea South-East Power official stated, "Starting with Jeonju Vision University, the first university in 2013, and completing solar power generation facilities at four universities, we have contributed to building renewable energy infrastructure through continuous and practical support."
