Coupang Immediately Closes Deokpyeong Logistics Center Following COVID-19 Confirmed Cases

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Coupang announced on the 24th that it received notification of a COVID-19 confirmed case from the Icheon City Public Health Center in Gyeonggi Province today and immediately closed the Deokpyeong Logistics Center. The employee who tested positive for COVID-19 was in charge of the shipping department at the Deokpyeong Logistics Center and worked until the 23rd. Due to a fever symptom, the employee underwent a COVID test early on the 24th and was confirmed positive.

Upon receiving the notification of the confirmed case from health authorities, Coupang immediately implemented the closure of the Deokpyeong Logistics Center and instructed logistics center employees to return home via text messages and verbal notifications.

A Coupang representative stated, “We will actively cooperate with health authorities and do our best to ensure the safety of logistics center workers and prevent the spread of COVID-19,” adding, “We plan to transparently disclose relevant information as soon as additional results from the health authorities’ investigation become available.”
