[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The Korea Health Industry Development Institute announced on the 24th that it has established a cooperative system with the Korean Academy of Medical Sciences to enhance expertise and objectivity in clinical practice guideline development and health technology assessment research.
The two organizations signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation the day before. The main contents of the agreement include ▲ development of research topics and research collaboration ▲ cooperation in clinical practice guideline development and methodology research ▲ regular consultations to provide evidence for health care policies such as health technology assessment.
The Health Industry Development Institute and the Korean Academy of Medical Sciences plan to jointly conduct systematic research to develop objective and scientific clinical practice guidelines through mutual cooperation between the government and the medical community. They will conduct joint research on the current status of clinical practice guideline development in Korea and methodology development, and expand research infrastructure with all clinical specialty societies affiliated with the Korean Academy of Medical Sciences to support human and material resources in areas such as literature search, research methodology development, guideline quality evaluation education, and research.
The Korean Academy of Medical Sciences plans to participate by recommending medical experts to develop high-priority research topics in the health technology assessment and reassessment process of the Health Industry Development Institute and to conduct joint research.
The Health Industry Development Institute operates committees that include various medical experts for research topic development and selection, and review of research results, and expects that this collaboration will provide a foundation to establish a more specialized cooperative channel.
Han Kwang-hyup, President of the Health Industry Development Institute, stated, “We will continue to engage in dialogue and actively cooperate with the medical community to improve the quality of clinical practice guidelines and health technology assessments.”
