[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seoul Metro Corporation (President Kim Sang-beom) will conduct a campaign over three days?May 29, June 1, and 3?to encourage mask-wearing on the subway to ensure safety from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
The campaign will take place from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at 78 stations, focusing on transfer and crowded stations such as Gangnam Station, Hongdae Entrance Station, Gwanghwamun Station, Gyodae Station, and Jamsil Station.
Employees will promote mask-wearing using various eye-catching promotional materials such as placards and sashes in front of subway gates.
Seoul Metro Corporation has been informing passengers about subway usage guidelines, including wearing masks and leaving adjacent seats empty, through posters, destination information boards, SNS, and announcements in stations and trains since the 13th, following the transition to “social distancing in daily life” related to COVID-19.
Kim Sung-eun, Director of the Sales Planning Department, said, “Passengers who forget to bring masks can purchase them at convenience stores and vending machines inside subway stations,” and added, “We ask for the active cooperation of citizens so that mask-wearing becomes a daily habit on the subway.”
