Jinsung "Parents Left When I Was 3, Battled Cancer After Debut"

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Min Jun-young] Trot singer Jinseong revealed stories about his difficult childhood.

On the 25th, Jinseong appeared on SBS Plus's 'Kim Sumi's Are You Eating?' and confessed about his life story.

In the broadcast, Jinseong said, "My parents were not around since I was 3 years old. The conflict between my grandmother and mother-in-law was very severe," and added, "When my grandmother was harsh, my father should have protected my mother, but he only drank alcohol and was violent."

He continued, "Eventually, when I was 3 years old, my mother ran away, and my father also ran away later saying he would go find her."

He then said, "Eight years later, when I was 11, I met my parents again and lived together, but due to my mother and father who never restored their relationship, we separated again after 1 or 2 years."

Jinseong said, "I was more unfortunate than an orphan," and added, "I wished they would have left me at an orphanage instead. At that time, in my young heart, I vowed, 'They are not my parents but my enemies. I will never see them again.'"

Afterward, Jinseong worked as a delivery worker at a Chinese restaurant and at nightclubs from the age of 14 to earn money, and debuted as a singer in 1997.

However, one year and six months after releasing 'At Andong Station,' he had to undergo surgery due to lymphoma blood cancer and heart valve disease.

Jinseong recalled, "When the doctor told me the diagnosis, it felt like a death sentence. I thought my life was ending like this," and added, "I couldn't sleep at night fearing I wouldn't be able to wake up in the morning."

But he revealed, "It has been 3 years and 6 months since the surgery," and said, "Now I have completely quit drinking and smoking and am exercising regularly."
