[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The Korea Technology Finance Corporation (Kibo) announced on the 22nd that it has signed a business agreement with Sejong University to establish a foundation for joint research on climate change response.

In line with the government's climate change response policies, Kibo, which has been laying the institutional groundwork to support climate technology companies through climate technology guarantees, plans to discover and support climate technology companies that have secured carbon reduction technologies through this agreement with Sejong University, a leading institution in climate change research.

The main contents of the agreement include ▲ support for greenhouse gas reduction policy response ▲ education and research for the industrialization and expansion of climate change response technologies ▲ joint research on domestic and international climate change issues, aiming to find solutions for climate and environmental problems such as greenhouse gas reduction measures.

Earlier this year, Kibo partnered with Sejong University to independently develop the ‘Carbon Value Evaluation Model.’ The ‘Carbon Value Evaluation Model’ is a model that converts the greenhouse gas reduction effects achievable through climate technologies or projects into monetary value for evaluation, developed to strengthen financial support for companies possessing climate technologies.

Yoon Beomsoo, Director of Kibo, stated, “The climate and environmental technology sector is not only important for national greenhouse gas reduction but also crucial from the perspective of a promising future growth industry expected to grow globally. We plan to continuously expand financial support for the growth and development of companies in the fields of greenhouse gas reduction and climate change response.”
