According to Muju-gun, 20 sewing machine activists will participate in volunteer activities for the public good (Muju-gun Volunteer Center volunteer group), such as making masks to prevent COVID-19 and producing hygiene products for vulnerable groups.

The training is scheduled to be held 20 times every Wednesday and Thursday until July 16, where participants will learn from professional instructors ▲basic sewing machine skills ▲three-dimensional cotton masks ▲yellow dust masks ▲non-woven fabric masks ▲cotton hygiene products and pouches ▲pillow covers ▲aprons (waist and one-piece) and headscarves.

Mr. Kim, who joined the sewing machine activist training course, said, "I am pleased to learn how to handle a sewing machine and to participate in good deeds for neighbors and the community," adding, "I will do my best until the last session so that I am not ashamed of the title of sewing machine activist."

Kim Mikyung, head of the Women's Welfare Team at the Social Welfare Division of Muju-gun Office, stated, "Sewing machine activists who complete the training will continue to work to support emergency disaster situations and vulnerable groups," and added, "All participants are women from the area, and we expect this to be a meaningful opportunity for social participation."
