[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] KB Kookmin Bank announced on the 14th that it will support low-interest credit loans for nurses and nursing assistants who are dedicated to overcoming COVID-19.
The support targets nurses and nursing assistants who have been employed for more than one year (more than two years for indefinite contract workers) and are affiliated with COVID-19 screening clinics or residential treatment center cooperative hospitals, or have a history of dispatched work. The loan limit is up to 10 million KRW per individual, and the loan interest rate is as low as 2.68% per annum (as of May 14, after preferential rates applied for credit ratings 1 to 5). The loan period is one year for lump-sum repayment (extendable up to 10 years), and between one and five years for installment repayment. This support will be temporarily operated within a total of 10 billion KRW for one year.
To apply, applicants must visit any KB Kookmin Bank branch nationwide with a certificate of employment and income documents. If there is a history of dispatched work at the relevant institution, an additional 'COVID-19 Dispatched Medical Personnel Confirmation' or 'Medical Personnel Support Application Confirmation' is required.
A KB Kookmin Bank official said, "We decided to support low-interest credit loans to alleviate the financial burden on nursing personnel who are dedicating themselves on the front lines to overcome this national crisis," adding, "We will continue to seek various support measures in the future."
