Two Accomplices of Jo Joo-bin in the 'Son Seok-hee·Yoon Jang-hyun Fraud' Case Sent to Prosecution

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Two men in their 20s who participated in fraud crimes against Son Seok-hee, president of JTBC, and Yoon Jang-hyun, former mayor of Gwangju, orchestrated by Cho Ju-bin (24, detained), the operator of the Telegram 'Baksa Bang', have been handed over to the prosecution.


The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Special Investigation Unit on Digital Sex Crimes announced on the 14th that Kim (29) and Lee (24), who were detained on charges including fraud, violation of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Economic Crimes (concealment of criminal proceeds), and violation of the Narcotics Control Act, have been sent to the prosecution.


Kim and others are accused of meeting Son, the president, and former mayor Yoon in person under Cho's instructions to extort money and then delivering it to Cho.


They are also suspected of exchanging cryptocurrency paid by Baksa Bang members as an entrance fee and gathering victims through advertisements while Cho was conducting drug sales disguised as fraud on social networking services (SNS). The money they intercepted from fraud victims and delivered to Cho is reported to amount to tens of millions of won.


Earlier, on the 6th, Judge Kim Tae-gyun of the Seoul Central District Court, in charge of warrants, issued detention warrants for them, citing concerns that they might destroy evidence or flee.
