[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] On the 13th, Pohang City held a kickoff meeting for the feasibility study service to select a site for a new food waste treatment facility at City Hall, the city announced on the 14th.
The Food Waste Treatment Facility Site Selection Committee will conduct a multifaceted review of five candidate sites through this service, which will continue until the end of August, considering site restrictions under other laws, environmental and economic feasibility, and surrounding infrastructure.
After the feasibility study is completed, the city plans to disclose and make the results available to Pohang citizens and collect their opinions.
A Pohang city official stated, "We will do our best to ensure a fair and transparent selection of the new food waste treatment facility," adding, "We will proceed with the schedule without delay and make every effort to promptly establish the new facility."
Meanwhile, Pohang City plans to build a facility capable of processing 200 tons of food waste per day by the end of 2023, investing a budget of 49.6 billion KRW.
