This training was organized to enhance the understanding of the marine healing industry and improve skills to nurture healing experts, targeting 30 beginner Nordic walking instructors trained last year.
The county had not been able to conduct training due to the global COVID-19 pandemic but held the sessions over two days on the 11th and 12th as social distancing measures were eased to everyday life distancing.
The training combined theoretical education on the progress and overview of the marine healing industry and understanding of marine healing resources with practical training to cultivate hands-on skills. Additionally, a performance wishing for the success of the marine healing industry and the 2021 Wando International Seaweed Expo was presented.
The beginner instructors trained so far have participated as instructors or assistant instructors in 45 sessions, including the Jangbogo Seafood Festival last year, Cheongsando Slow Walking Festival, the ‘Summer and Rest Marine Healing Experience Zone’ at Sinji Myeongsasipri Beach, the Autumn Light Travel Festival, and Jangbogo Market.
Marine climate therapy is known to lower lactic acid concentration when exercising while facing the sea breeze at a clean beach, and inhaling aerosols in the sea breeze is beneficial for bronchial health.
In particular, Nordic walking and Pilates, which are part of the marine climate therapy programs, help correct body balance, improve flexibility, promote blood and energy circulation, and relieve stress.
Shin Woo-cheol, Wando County Governor, said, “Wando-gun is a clean area with no confirmed COVID-19 cases so far, and after the end of COVID-19, marine healing, which heals the exhausted mind and body and promotes health, will attract many people to visit Wando. As marine healing rapidly rises, the role of marine climate therapy instructors will also grow.”
Wando-gun plans to continuously manage the beginner instructors it has trained and deploy them in operating marine climate therapy programs to contribute to the revitalization of the marine healing industry.
