[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] Shinhan Bank announced on the 14th that it will implement the ‘Hope Lunchbox’ campaign to support small business owners and vulnerable groups struggling due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
As part of Shinhan Financial Group’s ‘Hope Together, Cheer Up Small Business Owners’ initiative, this campaign involves Shinhan Bank purchasing ‘Hope Lunchboxes’ from small business owners and delivering them to vulnerable groups in the local community. It is a social contribution activity that simultaneously supports revitalizing the local economy by increasing sales for small business owners and addressing food issues for vulnerable groups.
About 40 companies that completed ‘Shinhan Soho School,’ a small business owner capacity-building program operated by Shinhan Bank since 2017, participated in making the ‘Hope Lunchboxes.’ A total of 10,080 lunchboxes (worth approximately 100 million KRW) were delivered to vulnerable groups through 92 social welfare centers in the Gyeonggi and Incheon areas.
Kim Bongchan, CEO of the Korean restaurant Hangaram, who participated in making the lunchboxes, said, “Through ‘Shinhan Soho School,’ I was able to learn a lot of know-how necessary for business operation, such as management and marketing education, and this ‘Hope Lunchbox’ order also helped support sales.”
A Shinhan Bank official said, “We have been continuously providing various support such as the ‘Our Neighborhood Support Program’ and the ‘Good Prepayment Campaign’ to help the local community overcome COVID-19 damage,” adding, “We will continue to faithfully fulfill our role as a responsible corporate citizen.”
