Busan Sasang Police Station announced on the 14th that they have arrested and are investigating funeral director A (in his 30s) on charges of trespassing and theft of a dwelling.
According to the police, A is suspected of breaking into the morgue at a funeral hall in a hospital in Busan around 3:30 a.m. that day, opening the doors of the corpse storage refrigerators multiple times, and stealing 10 gold teeth from two corpses.
The police responded to a report from a hospital employee who said, "Someone entered the corpse storage room and opened the refrigerators," and arrived at the scene to apprehend A.
They also seized the 10 stolen gold teeth as evidence.
During the police investigation, A reportedly stated, "Due to financial hardship, I stole the dentures from corpses in the morgue, which I had collected while working, to sell them on the market."
The police are conducting a detailed investigation into A's motive for the crime.
