[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The '11 o'clock Concert' at the Seoul Arts Center will resume after a three-month hiatus.
The Seoul Arts Center announced on the 12th that it will hold the '11 o'clock Concert' with Hanwha Life Insurance at the Concert Hall at 11 a.m. on the 14th. The 11 o'clock Concert, sponsored by Hanwha Life Insurance since 2004, is a representative daytime (matinee) concert held on the second Thursday of every month.
This year, after holding the 11 o'clock Concert in February, the concerts in March and April were canceled due to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Rising next-generation maestro Kim Kwang-hyun and the Korean Symphony Orchestra will present a program centered on 19th-century works by Russian composers. The concert will begin with the overture to Anton Arensky's opera "Dream on the Volga," followed by Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 1. Pianist Chae Moon-young, who won first place at the Maria Canals International Music Competition and is active in Europe, will perform as a soloist.
In the second part, the audience can experience the charm of the marimba, an instrument known for its clear resonance and wide range. Marimbist Kim Eun-hye will perform "Prism Rhapsody for Marimba and Orchestra." This concerto, composed by world-renowned marimbist Geiko Abe, showcases the instrument's rich sound by freely traversing high and low tones.
The performance will conclude with movements 3, 4, and 5 of Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 "Pastoral."
Along with the resumption of performances, the Seoul Arts Center plans to create a safe and comfortable viewing environment by checking visitors' temperatures and symptoms upon entry and having them fill out health questionnaires. Mask-wearing will be mandatory during the performance, and seats will be arranged to maintain spacing between audience members.
Tickets can be purchased through the Seoul Arts Center website, call center, and Interpark.
