[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Little Richard (real name Richard Wayne Penniman), a pioneer of rock and roll music, passed away on the 9th (local time) at the age of 87.
American media reported the news of Richard's death. The cause of death has not been disclosed, but it was reported that Richard had been battling cancer. Dick Allen, Richard's former agent, announced that Richard passed away at his home in Nashville, Tennessee.
Allen described Richard as "one of the legends and one of the founders of rock and roll music."
Richard left hit songs such as "Tutti Frutti" and "Long Tall Sally" from the 1950s. He sold 30 million records worldwide.
