[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Following the completion of the Muui Bridge connecting Jamjindo and Muui Island in Incheon, the expansion construction of the embankment road from Yongyu Island to Jamjindo has also recently been completed, accelerating the development projects in the Yongyu and Muui areas.
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority announced on the 8th that it has finished the expansion construction of the embankment road connecting Yongyu Island and Jamjindo, a popular island tourist destination.
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority invested 7 billion KRW to widen the 700-meter section of road, including 400 meters of embankment road and 300 meters of connecting road, from the existing 6 meters to about double, 10 to 12 meters. As a result, new sidewalks were installed in the section, and vehicle traffic on the Jamjindo-Muui Island connecting bridge linked to this road has become much smoother.
Earlier, the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority completed the Muui Bridge, which is 1.3 km long and 12 meters wide, in January of this year with a total project cost of 70.4 billion KRW.
With the completion of major infrastructure projects such as the embankment road connecting Yongyu Island, Jamjindo, and Muui Island, and the Muui Bridge, accessibility to Muui Island has improved and transportation has become more convenient, leading to a continuous increase in vehicles visiting Muui Island.
Accordingly, the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority expects that the development projects in the Incheon Free Economic Zone, including the Muui LK and Muui Sollaire complex resort projects underway on Muui Island, will accelerate along with the revitalization of the local economy.
Furthermore, the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority plans to promptly complete the road expansion construction from Geunmuri Village to Hanagae Entrance within Muui Island to improve transportation convenience for local residents.
Additionally, two roads currently under implementation plan approval?Hanagae to Gwangmyeong Port and Hanagae to Hanagae Beach?as well as the airport west road to north-south road project in the Yongyu area, will begin construction within this year with a total investment of 77.8 billion KRW, aiming for completion in 2022.
An official from the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority stated, "In consultation with Jung-gu, we will swiftly promote the expansion of internal roads on Muui Island and the expansion of insufficient infrastructure such as parking lots to minimize inconvenience to residents and ensure that the Yongyu and Muui areas develop competitiveness as centers of marine culture, tourism, and leisure."
