[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Kim Yoo-jin (27), a freelance PD embroiled in a school violence controversy ahead of her marriage to chef Lee Won-il (41), attempted an extreme act and was transferred to a hospital emergency room. Fortunately, Kim PD regained consciousness and is preparing to be admitted to a general ward from the emergency room.
According to fire authorities and medical sources on the 4th, Kim PD was found by her family after attempting an extreme act early that morning and was transported to the emergency room of a university hospital in Seoul. A hospital official stated, "She is conscious and currently preparing for admission in the emergency room," adding, "It is not true that she was moved to the intensive care unit."
Earlier, Kim PD posted a message implying an extreme act on a private social media account. She wrote, "I only hope to clear the injustice so that chef Lee Won-il and our families do not suffer any further harm. I will bear everything myself," and added, "I think I will soon become a person who no longer exists in this world."
On the 21st of last month, a post claiming that Kim PD was a perpetrator of school violence was uploaded on an online community bulletin board. The netizen, who identified themselves as a victim, claimed, "When I was 16 in 2008, I was gang assaulted by a celebrity A in Auckland, New Zealand. The ringleader A never apologized, but I had forgotten until recently when A appeared on TV, which revived the memories and I cannot escape the trauma." Subsequently, other netizens came forward with additional allegations, including one claiming to have been assaulted by Kim PD during elementary school.
Chef Lee and Kim PD met through a broadcast program in 2018 and have been dating since. They appeared on MBC TV's dating observation reality show 'If You’re Jealous, You Lose' starting last month, publicly sharing their wedding preparations, but withdrew voluntarily after the controversy arose.
