[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] The People’s Party, which secured only three seats in the April 15 general election, launched the 'Innovation Preparation Committee' on the 26th. With Ahn Cheol-soo as co-chairman, the party plans to dedicate about a month to establishing mid- to long-term development directions and formulating strategies to promote its pledges.

In a press release on the same day, the People’s Party stated, "We have launched the 'Party System Reorganization and Innovation Preparation Committee' to build the foundation for the party’s development, realize the founding spirit, and fulfill the general election pledges."

The Innovation Preparation Committee will operate with six subcommittees: ▲ General Election Evaluation Committee ▲ Mid- to Long-Term Party Development Strategy Committee ▲ Policy Pledge Promotion Strategy Committee ▲ Organizational Strengthening Strategy Committee ▲ Party Innovation Strategy Committee ▲ Party System Reorganization Committee. Its goal is to establish plans and prepare concrete implementation measures.

In particular, the General Election Evaluation Committee will collect and organize public opinion regarding the general election and the party’s future development direction. Professor Jung Yeon-jeong of Paichai University, who was the chairperson of the Proportional Representation Recommendation Management Committee during the general election, is expected to serve as chairperson. The People’s Party said, "We judged that it is desirable for an external team to lead the general election evaluation while gathering opinions within the party, so the former Proportional Representation Recommendation Management Committee will take charge."

Choi Byung-gil, former vice chairman of the Election Countermeasures Committee, will serve as chairperson of the Mid- to Long-Term Party Development Strategy Committee, which will organize the party’s practical centrist philosophy and policies.

The Policy Pledge Promotion Strategy Committee will be co-chaired by Supreme Council member Kwon Eun-hee and Lee Ji-moon, chairman of the Korea Integrity Movement Headquarters, to revise and supplement the party platform and establish a strategy for the National Assembly.

The Organizational Strengthening Strategy Committee, led by Supreme Council member Koo Hyuk-mo as chairperson, will focus on developing organizational strategies. The Party Innovation Strategy Committee, chaired by Supreme Council member Kim Kyung-hwan, will explore ways to innovate the party’s organizational culture and establish plans for promoting a shared party system.

Additionally, the Party System Reorganization Committee, chaired by Secretary-General Lee Tae-gyu, plans to relocate the central party office from Sinchon to Yeouido and reorganize necessary systems for party operations, such as the party’s organizational structure and personnel service regulations.
