[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] Shinhan Bank announced on the 26th that its headquarters and branches nationwide will participate in the "Good Prepayment National Campaign" to help small business owners and self-employed individuals struggling due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

The Good Prepayment National Campaign, organized by the government, will run for one month starting from the 27th. It is a good consumer movement where people prepay at frequently visited restaurants, neighborhood stores, cafes, etc., and promise to revisit, thereby helping small business owners and self-employed individuals facing difficulties due to COVID-19.

Since February, as part of the government's social distancing measures, Shinhan Bank has been conducting meetings and workshops online. Accordingly, the 1.5 billion KRW budget for meetings and workshops that have been postponed will be autonomously prepaid to small business owners and self-employed individuals near the headquarters and branches nationwide who are struggling due to COVID-19.

The prepaid amount will be used after COVID-19 subsides and social distancing is eased. Employees also plan to participate in this campaign by using prepaid services at restaurants around the headquarters and branches.

A Shinhan Bank official said, "We hope that participating in this Good Prepayment National Campaign will help small business owners who are struggling due to COVID-19, even if only a little."

Meanwhile, in addition to financial support, Shinhan Bank is supporting small business owners and self-employed individuals in overcoming COVID-19 through various non-financial support activities such as ▲ giving bouquets and Baeksulgi rice cakes for Valentine's Day and White Day to flower farms and to revitalize the local economy ▲ providing 6.3 billion KRW worth of Onnuri gift certificates, which can be used at traditional markets nationwide, as welfare benefits ▲ reducing monthly rent by 30% for three months for small business owners operating in bank-owned buildings ▲ implementing a neighborhood support program that promotes small business stores on digital billboards outside branches.
