[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The Ministry of Employment and Labor is introducing a nationwide representative phone number (1522-9000) to facilitate the use of the 'Workplace Harassment Counseling Center.'
The Workplace Harassment Counseling Centers were established and began operating last month in eight locations nationwide, but each center used a separate phone number, limiting easy access for those seeking counseling.
With the introduction of this representative phone number, callers can easily receive the desired counseling by dialing 1522-9000 followed by an extension number.
The Workplace Harassment Counseling Centers have professional counselors, including certified labor attorneys, on site to provide expert counseling services regarding whether harassment has occurred, how to respond, and other workplace harassment issues.
For those experiencing psychological difficulties, information on psychological counseling programs provided by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Ministry of Health and Welfare is also available.
Kim Dae-hwan, Director of Labor Standards Policy at the Ministry of Employment and Labor, stated, "With the introduction of the representative phone number, the public will be able to use counseling services easily and conveniently," adding, "We will strengthen our response to ensure that the workplace harassment prohibition system takes root in the field."
