LG Electronics Launches Korea's Largest Capacity 24kg 'AI DD Washing Machine'

Washing Tub Enlarged, Exterior Size Remains the Same as Before

LG Electronics will release the AI DD (Direct Drive) washing machine 'LG Tromm Washing Machine ThinQ' this weekend, capable of washing large or bulky laundry all at once.

[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] LG Electronics announced on the 20th that it will release the AI DD washing machine 'LG Tromm Washing Machine ThinQ,' capable of washing large loads of laundry at once, this weekend.

The new product has the largest washing capacity among domestic home washing machines at 24kg. LG Electronics explained that according to recent test results from the Korea Testing Laboratory, this product washed a 24kg load consisting of towels, pillowcases, and other items at once.

The volume of the washing drum increased by more than 10% compared to the existing 21kg Tromm ThinQ. The expanded space can accommodate about 30 additional towels weighing 100g each. Although the internal drum capacity increased, the product's external width remains the same, making it highly space-efficient.

The new product detects the weight of the clothes and, when it can identify the fabric using big data, selects the optimal motion from LG Electronics' exclusive 6-motion washing methods. For delicate fabrics, it chooses motions like 'trembling' and 'kneading' to protect the clothes during washing. According to Intertek, a global testing and certification organization, the new product protects clothes more than 10% better compared to previous models, the company stated.

When connected via Wi-Fi to the home appliance management application LG ThinQ, it can be used more conveniently. For example, the washing machine can transmit washing course information to the dryer, which can then automatically set the drying course.

LG Electronics changed the front door material of this product to integrated tempered glass. It is more scratch-resistant and easier to clean and maintain than the previous plastic material. The previously released LG Tromm Dryer Steam ThinQ also adopted a door design with tempered glass material. The lifter inside the washing drum, which lifts clothes, was changed from plastic to stainless steel to enhance hygiene.

This product can be used as a TwinWash by combining a mini wash tub-type washing machine at the bottom, allowing simultaneous and separate washing. It is equipped with a drum sterilization function to hygienically manage the washing machine. LG Electronics explained that in Intertek tests, the drum sterilization course removed 99.99% of Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Klebsiella pneumoniae.

The price of the new product ranges from 1.7 million to 1.8 million KRW depending on the color, based on the shipment price.
