[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] KT&G will launch the exclusive stick for its heated tobacco product ‘lil HYBRID,’ called ‘MIIX ICE BANG,’ nationwide on the 22nd.
‘MIIX ICE BANG’ is characterized by delivering a stronger refreshing sensation compared to the previously released ‘MIIX’ products. Combined with the advantage of ‘lil HYBRID,’ which reduces the distinctive burnt smell of heated tobacco, users can enjoy its inherently cool taste. The packaging features the unique ‘X’ pattern of the MIIX brand, expressing a modern and clean look, and emphasizes the product’s refreshing qualities with blue-toned colors.
The new product will first be introduced from the 17th at the flagship stores ‘lil Minimalium’ located in four areas of Seoul (Gangnam, Dongdaemun, Sinchon, Sindorim), as well as in Songdo (Incheon), Ulsan, Cheongju, and Busan. Then, on the 22nd, it will be simultaneously available at approximately 43,000 convenience stores nationwide.
In February, KT&G unveiled the upgraded ‘lil HYBRID 2.0,’ equipped with features such as an ‘OLED display’ and ‘SmartOn’ functionality. This product maintains the same advantages as ‘lil HYBRID 1.0,’ including abundant vapor production, reduced burnt smell, and ease of cleaning, earning positive reviews from consumers.
‘lil HYBRID’ is a popular product that incorporates KT&G’s proprietary technology, which combines a dedicated cartridge with the device and uses sticks inserted into it. In January, KT&G proved the competitiveness of its product and brand by signing a supply contract with Philip Morris International (PMI) to sell ‘lil’ in all countries worldwide except South Korea.
Im Wang-seop, head of KT&G’s NGP Business Division, stated, “Following ‘MIIX ICE’ and ‘MIIX ICE DOUBLE,’ we launched ‘MIIX ICE BANG’ in response to consumers’ requests for another refreshing flavor. We will continue to communicate with customers and consistently introduce differentiated products.”
The retail price of the new ‘MIIX ICE BANG’ is 4,500 KRW per pack, and with this launch, the exclusive stick lineup of the ‘MIIX’ brand has expanded to a total of seven variants.
